Everything else - "wild animals" - are so...far apart from this society that those two things are lumped together, just because they are part of human society somehow.

[...He'd been expected to keep up with a pretty rigorous education, his family being what it was. And when he got older - even as strange as things got with Mother, as uncertain as their future (his future) seemed - the underpinnings of the Foundation's work became more important. Financial, practical, conceptual. (Ethical, maybe, though he had to be careful there, if she involved herself - too easy to say the wrong thing. Easier than the baseline.)
